Handan glass, scaled down for a day bag
This kit exists because Sandry Law was tired of carrying a porcelain gaiwan wrapped in a dish towel between tastings — functional, but never professional. The glass inside is the same borosilicate as the standard Handan line: Liu Shenyang’s family bench, scaled down to travel weight rather than sourced separately.
The gaiwan carries the same flared, fire-polished lip as the full-sized 90ml version, just smaller at 80ml — easy to hold even nose-deep in a dry-leaf evaluation. The pitcher took a few rounds to get right: the spout had to pour without turbulence so the liquor stays clear and the aroma intact. The two cups are double-walled, since no sommelier wants to sip from a vessel that burns the hand between sessions.
The case is a separate commission — a Kunming leather-and-canvas workshop Sandry has used for his own field kit for years. Tough cotton duck, a brass zipper, and a foam liner cut to fit each piece exactly. Every kit is assembled by hand and inspected personally before it ships. It is not the cheapest travel set, but it is the one Sandry carries himself.
